After facing several health challenges, including first a DVT then MRSA and then a complete stroke. After the stroke, I was prescribed meds for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and stroke prevention (anticoagulant and blood thinning). After several years of regaining my health and getting off of all meds, it was time to redo this article aptly named “Ending Illness At The Source”, because many things have changed. What follows is a Biographical account, in a sense, of what has worked for me to absolutely turn my health around, and by that, I mean that I am including the informational sources and videos that I used to become well again. This is not health advice in other words, it is simply me sharing and updating this account of my experience and progress from my viewpoint. DYOR (do your own research).
I had a complete stroke, meaning in this case I was paralyzed on my left side on May 10, 2015. With no insurance and no physical therapy other than a system I devised myself with the help of the internet, I now am fully recovered, ride a Mountian bike about 45 min a day, walk, talk and function normally. Also, I do not take statins or any other drugs, I use mesoglycan 50 mg two times daily (available as a nutriceutical without prescription at places like Swanson Vitamins) instead of using Warfarin, Plavix (R) etc. Mesoglycan can be found in the aloe vera plant, calves aorta and synthetically derived. Heparan sulfate and dermatan sulfate are the two of the primary constituent components of mesoglycan. Mesocglycan is essentially a natural Xa inhibitor, the natural type not needing monitoring. Also, using mesoglycan avoids the most perilous of prescription medicines, as was recently proven in a report via the FDA’s own database: “A report by a watchdog group has concluded that prescribed medicines are “one of the most significant perils to human health resulting from human activity.” The group based their conclusion on their analysis of the US Food and Drug Administration’s database of serious adverse events.

Update 2019: after a year or so I switched to using 500 mg Saigon cinnamon that I cap myself once a day (because of the natural warfarin/coumadin called coumarin), one 500 mg Turmeric, nattokinase 2 x daily, iodine with a tsp colloidal silver in a glass of water. 1 daily multi and some vitamin D to round it off. One thing to note is that as far as blood pressure and stress-management goes, the most profound tools I have is my daily Tulsi (Holy Basil chai tea) from the local Amish mixed with a little wild lettuce that I grow in my yard. and a ginger tea 1 x daily.
My blood pressure is normal, my cholesterol is normal, my blood-work is normal and I take NO pharmaceuticals. Of course, I am not saying anyone else should do as I do or have done without professional assistance. I am simply sharing my experiences, resources, and opinions. In my opinion, it would be unwise to simply quit taking prescribed medicines unless you have the assistance of a doctor or health care professional who understands when and how to go about transitioning to natural approaches.

Diet for most people seems to be the single most confusing issue. It has certainly been my biggest challenge, and after finally getting it right I felt this issue is important enough to dedicate everything that follows to that topic! P.S. after 4+ yrs I can say definitely that Dr Gundry’s diet has made the biggest overall impact to my health!
The single most important part is diet.
